Schubert – Ave Maria …. “A Tender Moment in a Time of Pain"

Inspired by Yo-Yo Ma, YCAT and Concert Artists  Guild, cellist Jamal Aliyev performs his music of comfort. May his heartfelt interpretation of Schubert’s Ave Maria be a comfort during these days of uncertainty.  (Accompaniment on piano:  Maksim Stsura).

We also want to belatedly thank Doris Sheldon for her photo used in Monday’s post, March 30 – “A Time to Pray With and For One Another.”  Many thanks, Doris, and apologies for neglecting to do so earlier.

It is a cloudy, rainy day, inside and out..little incentive to get up..
The news won’t have changed much,
more illness, more death, more despair….
such a feeling of helplessness and powerlessness,
just pray, pray, pray and wait, wait, wait.

I hate the platitudes spat out at me..
“what might you learn from this?”
    Sorry!
I am not in LEARN mode.

“Use this time to reflect ..”
I doubt that I will ever shine in the dark..
    “go deeper”..
I’m not sure what that means; can I can breathe under water?.

“Try to relax and surrender to Godde’s loving presence and embrace”..
    That would be so great if I could find Her;
it seems no one has informed her that
she is exempt from the social distancing mandate.

Feeling very alone in this weird lap of the journey.
I am so far behind that I think I’m first,
which doesn’t really matter, I suppose..
there is no one in sight in either direction..
it is safe for me to cry.
